Bayou Culture Collaborative
The mission of the Bayou Culture Collective is to connect those interested in the human dimension of land loss, transmitting culture in a time of disruption, and impacts of climate migrations. The BCC provide a means for people from diverse backgrounds ranging from folk artists to environmental scientists to connect and explore ways to ensure that the human dimension, especially culture, is included in environmental planning while not promoting specific strategies. Love of People's Diaper Drive
Now in its 9th year, Williams Bros Diaper Drive (Formerly Julian's Diaper Drive) serves as a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the community while also instilling important values in children. By involving both families and businesses in need, you create a collaborative effort to support those who require assistance. Love of People is a nonprofit organization, developed in 1993 with the mission of “Helping Others, Help Others”. Hurricane Preparedness with American Red Cross
Hurricane season is upon us in the southwest region of Louisiana and Micha Nicholas with the Capital West chapter of the American Red Cross stops by KRVS to offer pointers on how to make the most of what prep time you have. (ZHPS), in partnership with the Clifton Chenier Centennial Committee will host a Clifton Chenier Centennial and Slim’s Y-Ki-Ki Restoration Project Fundraiser at Arpeggio’s located at 204 N Main Street in Opelousas, Louisiana. AcA Ceramics Now
On view in the Main Gallery at Acadiana Center for the Arts: Ceramics Now: Contemporary and Traditional Practices in Acadiana. Clifton Chenier Day
On Saturday, June 22, St. Landry Parish Tourism and the Opelousas Museum paid tribute to Clifton Chenier through art and music. In 2000, the Louisiana State Legislature designated Chenier’s hometown of Opelousas as the Zydeco Music Capital of the World. In 2021, June 25 was declared Clifton Chenier Day in the state by the Louisiana state legislature. The museum celebrated this important day in many ways such as revealing a larger-than-life cutout image of Clifton Chenier designed by Opelousas artist, Theon Guillory, and a Zydeco Jam for Clifton Chenier led by CJ Chenier.

LA Easter Rock & GA Gullah Geechee Ring Shout
On June 26th at 2:00 PM, African American elders and young culture-keepers will represent Louisiana’s Easter Rock and Georgia’s Gullah Geechee Ring Shout traditions coming together for the first time inside the historic church at the Whitney Plantation. They will share with the public Black spiritual practices that date back to our nation’s antebellum era.
