  • Homegrown from Lafayette and living in NYC, Paige Barnett Kulbeth is an artist acclaimed for her innovative integration of dance, music and video technology. Her debut stage show, Holy Animals, consists of larger-than-life projections, live music and a combination of modern and classical dance. Loosely based on Dante’s The Divine Comedy, the evening will unfold across the circles of Hell, the terraces of Purgatory and the celestial spheres of Heaven. The twist? These ethereal happenings will be retold through the female characters’ perspectives, transforming this classic story into a loud & proud, girl-power anthem!   • Basin Arts and KRVS come together to co-produce Art Circle, a monthly conversation between Dean Daryl Moore of UL Lafayette's College of Arts and two guests, a visual and a performing artist. These run on the final Monday of each month during the 3 p.m. Après-Midi program. This week, Dean Moore's guests are, sculptor, Marla Kristicevich and dance creator, Whitney Willis Hebert.

This is a day focused on celebrating, demonstrating, and honoring the Créole heritage in Louisiana and beyond.   • The Ducky Derby is a signature annual fundraiser benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank. Every duck represents one of our kind neighbors stepping up to support one another. All proceeds provide meals for children and families fighting hunger across Acadiana. Duck Derby launches at 3 p.m. at St. Julien Park in Broussard on Saturday, June 29.   • Dr. Gary LaFleur Jr., Director of The Center for Bayou Studies, discusses this month's upcoming Bayou Culture Collaborative Gathering happening July 19, 2024, featuring Dr. Quenton Fontenot and his Cajun Music Preservation Society. Louisiana Folklore Society offers the Bayou Culture Gatherings in order to help connect those interested in the human dimension of coastal issues through monthly gatherings to learn and share. Each gathering features a topic for discussion in addition to news, announcements, and questions.   • The Black Theater Experience (BTE) community theater program is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating black theater work in all its forms. Their mission is to showcase the vibrant tapestry of black theater work, amplifying our voices, providing a platform for artists of color to share their stories and express their creativity through the powerful medium of theater.
