  • Kids Camps are open to all levels of young musicians. Just bring a guitar, a fiddle, or a 10-button diatonic accordion in the key of C, and their days will be filled with music classes, band labs, singing, dancing, indoor/outdoor games, crafts, cuisine, and fun. Instrument loans for camp use may be available from LA Folk Roots, Lafayette Public Library or local music stores. The Camps finish with showcase performance by the young camper bands, presentation of certificates, and a camper-parent dance party.   • The 1720 Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius violin is said to be one of the world’s most legendary instruments. Its mysterious history and whereabouts after it went missing for 200 years, has inspired much speculation, and many tellings of its story, including the 1998, Academy Award winning film, The Red Violin. The story of how it came into the hands of its current owner is just as fascinating. Don't miss the chance to experience a historic, first-ever performance in Lafayette, by world-renowned violin virtuoso, and longtime keeper of The Red Violin, Elizabeth Pitcairn, who, along with her legendary instrument, will lead the Symphony in performing a captivating suite from the now famous movie, as well as arrangements from Virgil Thomson's Pulitzer Prize Winning Acadian Songs and Dances, from the 1948 movie Louisiana Story.   • Homegrown from Lafayette and living in NYC, Paige Barnett Kulbeth is an artist acclaimed for her innovative integration of dance, music and video technology. Her debut stage show, Holy Animals, consists of larger-than-life projections, live music and a combination of modern and classical dance. Loosely based on Dante’s The Divine Comedy, the evening will unfold across the circles of Hell, the terraces of Purgatory and the celestial spheres of Heaven. The twist? These ethereal happenings will be retold through the female characters’ perspectives, transforming this classic story into a loud & proud, girl-power anthem!   • Basin Arts and KRVS come together to co-produce Art Circle, a monthly conversation between Dean Daryl Moore of UL Lafayette's College of Arts and two guests, a visual and a performing artist.
