The 7th Mickey Shunick Memorial Loop Ride will be held in honor of all loved ones lost in cycling accidents in Acadiana. The event will be held Wednesday, October 16, beginning at 5:00 PM. Riders will convene at Mickey’s Ghost Bike at the corner of 1200 Saint Landry St. Mickey’s bike rededication will take place at 5:30 PM and riders will depart at 5:45. This year, the 100 Black Men of Greater Lafayette and Acadiana Black Nurses Association is thrilled to bring back the annual Sickle Cell Walk/Run as well as a Health and Wellness Expo to bring awareness to Sickle Cell Disease, and make a difference in the lives of those living with sickle cell disease in Lafayette. FLYING WORDS PROJECT is an American Sign Language (ASL) poetry troupe comprised of Deaf poet Peter Cook and hearing coauthor Kenny Lerner. They have performed ASL poetry together all over the world for forty years. They will be performing on October 17th Thursday night in the UL Lafayette Student Union Ballroom.
