  • Dr. Gary LaFleur Jr., Director of The Center for Bayou Studies, discusses this month's upcoming Bayou Culture Collaborative Gathering happening July 19, 2024, featuring Dr. Quenton Fontenot and his Cajun Music Preservation Society. Louisiana Folklore Society offers the Bayou Culture Gatherings in order to help connect those interested in the human dimension of coastal issues through monthly gatherings to learn and share. Each gathering features a topic for discussion in addition to news, announcements, and questions.   • The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra has just gotten back from their first-ever international tour to Poland. Several ASO representatives stopped by KRVS to fill us in on how they managed to successfully pull something off on such large of a scale.   • The mission of the Bayou Culture Collective is to connect those interested in the human dimension of land loss, transmitting culture in a time of disruption, and impacts of climate migrations. The BCC provide a means for people from diverse backgrounds ranging from folk artists to environmental scientists to connect and explore ways to ensure that the human dimension, especially culture, is included in environmental planning while not promoting specific strategies.
