Cheryl Devall arrives at KRVS as a longtime listener and supporter. During her long journalism career she has lived, reported and edited from many regions of the United States, and she’s very pleased to make a home in Acadiana — where she can Zydeco and two-step as much as she likes! She’s a veteran of news organizations as varied as Southern California Public Radio, Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting and the Opelousas Daily World. As a correspondent for National Public Radio and an independent story editor for radio documentaries and podcasts, she has shared in four Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards over four different decades. Her musical tastes extend to jazz, classical, roots and folk, all of which she treasures, in addition to the Great American Songbook. WXPN’s World Café, heard Mondays through Thursdays on KRVS, has carried two radio documentaries she’s worked on: the Peabody Award-nominated Gospel Roots of Rock and Soul and Kanaval: Haitian Rhythms and the Music of New Orleans.
