  • The Hilliard Art Museum has achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. The Hilliard Art Museum-University of Louisiana at Lafayette is not just a place to look at art. It’s a place where visitors are encouraged to truly see art. It is a place of learning, where students sketch in the galleries and artists talk about their work. It’s a destination for families, where kids express their own creativity through hands-on activities. And it’s a resource for academic research and observation. Museum experiences build skills that extend into every aspect of life.

  • Lafayette Reads Together has entered its ninth year as a community-wide reading program, and they invite you to be a part of it. This annual event was created to get our community reading, sharing, and discussing the same book. Free copies of the book will be available at all library branches, donated by the Lafayette Public Library Foundation, beginning Tuesday, January 17.The 2023 book selection is Closer to Nowhere by Ellen Hopkins.
  • This support group is for persons with aphasia. This is a supportive and non-judgmental place to speak openly about struggles and successes. They meet the first Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Burke-Hawthorne Hall, Room 236B. It is hosted by the UL Communicative Disorders Department, the Speech and Hearing Clinic, and the Aphasia Center of Acadiana (ACA), Inc. The ACA also offer a support group at the same day/time in room 249 for caregivers, spouses, friends and/or family members of persons with aphasia. So, come find community together!
