Rebirth Exhibition - Peregrine Honig
Visual artist, Peregrine Honig, is returning to Lake Charles for a series of masterclasses with students at McNeese University Oct. 6-8. Downtown Lake Charles welcomes Honig to the DPR Gallery for her opening reception of her Rebirth Exhibit opening Oct. 9 through Jan.1, 2026. Todd Mouton on Clifton Chenier: The King of Zydeco

To celebrate his life and legacy, La Louisiane welcomes author and cultural advocate Todd Mouton, whose new book, The King of Zydeco, dives deep into Chenier’s musical genius and cultural impact.

"Louisiana's History is America's Future : The Katrina Disaster, 1915-2015"
The Katrina Forward series will host award-winning historian Andy Horowitz for a public lecture on Thursday, October 9, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette. Festival Acadiens et Créoles Symposium
On Friday, October 10, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. the Hilliard Museum will host the CLS’s Festivals Acadiens et Créoles Symposium, Et asteur quoi ?! Countercultural Currents, Artistic Intersections /Courants contre-culturels, intersections artistiques, exploring how the deep cultural roots are informing the next generation of artists, now. This program is a collaboration between the Hilliard Art Museum, Center for Louisiana Studies, Helis Foundation, Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, John T. Scott Center, and FrancoFAE, and honors Barry Ancelet as the 2025 LEH Bright Lights recipient of the Champion of Culture Award for Festivals Acadiens et Créoles. Support also comes from the Guilbeau Center for Public History, UL’s Public History program, and from the Franco-American Benevolent Society. For more information, click here.

Hilliard Art Museum : Opening Preview Event and New Programs
The Hilliard Art Museum presents three dynamic exhibitions featuring internationally acclaimed artists Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir, also known as Shoplifter, alongside regionally significant artists including Mare Martin, Manon Bellet, Hanah Chalew, and Harriet Joor. The opening preview day is on September 12th and free for students and faculty, it will begin with an artist talk with Shoplifter at 4pm. Hiiliard will also be having an after dark event starting at 7:30. A Modern Opera: Orpheus and Euridice
In Ricky Ian Gordon’s “Orpheus and Euridice” taking place at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, the timeless myth is re-imagined through lush melodies and poignant lyrics.
