Graduate students in the English department at UL Lafayette are organizing the Global Souths Conference, with coordinator, Dr. Hossain Arafat. The Global Souths Conference will be held from March 12-14, 2026. The Global Souths Conference is a three-day interdisciplinary event that has historically been concerned with the Global Souths, geographical divisions, and what the word “southern” means, both in the United States and the world at large. This year, they will explore current crossroads in scholarship and culture. They will also analyze how we reached these crossroads and theorize about how they should move forward from this point.
