Historic Opelousas is proud to be the host site for the upcoming Gathering of Descendants which will be held June 5-7, 2024. This three-day cultural event will provide an opportunity for attendees to connect to their St. Landry Parish roots, meet family and friends, and learn more about the history of the area. Events scheduled include a tour of Le Vieux Village de Poste des Opelousas, a visit to the St Landry Parish Courthouse, a presentation by noted historian and genealogist Alex DePaul Lee at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center, a tour of St. Landry Cemetery and a fabulous closing day Main Event - Descendant Gathering & Luncheon.
