“Nonc” Jules Guidry has hosted programs on KRVS for close to 42 years, most recently live in the studio for the weekly Bal de Dimanche Après-Midi from noon to 3 p.m. Sundays. As a producer and a performer, over the decades he’s shared a deep love of Cajun music. Recently he decided to step away from the microphone. He’ll host his final live program on Sunday, February 9. With chagrin, we bid a fond au revoir et bien merci for all “Nonc” Jules has done to maintain the language and culture of the place we call home.

Listen at 7 p.m. Thursday for a special tribute to the late Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States. American Public Media offers another look at his domestic and foreign policy record. With the passage of time, Carter’s key initiatives abroad — from Central America to the Middle East, and with human rights at the center — seem, to many people, more visionary by the day.Photo credits: The Carter Center
