  • The Office of Public Health Region 4 (Acadiana), in partnership with Healthy Iberia Coalition and Healthy Vermilion Coalition, is holding a Back to School Hygiene Drive.   • Michel Bourdoncle (France), on piano. We’re proud of our rich and diverse culture in Acadiana. Our music, food, traditions and pastimes are influenced by many cultures from all over the world, including those indigenous to South Louisiana. At this concert, we’ll explore the connection to our French and Acadian ancestors, through the lens of classical music, written by famous French composers, including visionaries like Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, and Gabriel Fauré.   • Acadiana Conservatory of Music accepts applications and conducts auditions annually, from young musicians interested in joining one of two youth orchestras: Acadiana Symphony Youth Orchestra (ages 13+) and Acadiana Symphony Preparatory Orchestra (for ages 8+). All new musicians must audition. Auditions are held in the form of video submissions. The deadline to submit your video is Saturday, August 19, 2023.Chair placement auditions for returning members will take place during the first two rehearsals.   • This year the Lake Charles Symphony is especially excited to present Louisiana Saturday Night celebrating all things Louisiana. Lake Charles native and Grammy Nominated, Sean Ardoin and Kreole Rock & Soul is the feature artist for the 2023 Summer Pops Series. The Lake Charles Symphony has commissioned Orchestrated Music to accompany Sean’s Zydecajun Music. This will be the first time that he will perform with a full orchestra. This year’s event will be Saturday, July 8th at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
