  • Grammy winner Chubby Carrier and zydeco veteran Lil Jeff Boutte lead a Tribute to Clifton Chenier set for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 24 at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center, I-49 exit 23, in Opelousas. The tribute is part of the Zydeco Capital Jam, monthly jam sessions open to players of all skill levels.This special tribute falls the day before Clifton Chenier Day, which the state legislature declared in 2021. Chenier, the “King of Zydeco” who won a Grammy in 1983 and earned a Lifetime Achievement Award, was born June 25, 1925, near Opelousas.   • Art in the Park will be held on June 24 from 10 a.m. - Noon, and it is a great opportunity for the public to participate in and enjoy the event. Located at the Donald Ray Stevens Community Center in Huber park, the event is free and open to all. Many benefits of participating, including the opportunity to create your own work of art and take it home, activities for all ages, materials provided, and classes led by local arts professionals, including Imperial Calcasieu Museum Resident Artists!
  • Stop by Saturday, June 17 at 11 AM for this edition of Healing Traditions in Acadiana, with Colby Hébert. This presentation is free to the public.New Iberia native and generational Traiteur since the age of 11, Colby Hébert has always had a deep pride and passion for his Louisiana roots. Since 2016, he has used his custom hat business “The Cajun Hatter” as an avenue to express and preserve elements of Cajun and Creole culture. Currently, he has shifted his preservation efforts toward the healing tradition of which he has long been a part. In his talk “The Cajun Healer: Revival and Renewal” Hébert will share his perspectives on how we can honor tradition while embracing the changes necessary to sustain it.
  • On display now, "From the Ashes" explores the devastations of the Great Fire of 1910. As you walk through this photographic exhibit you will not only get to experience the fire's aftermath, but you will be able to listen to local historians discuss this disaster and what it meant for the people of Lake Charles.Come learn and explore some of Lake Charles' history with this eye-opening exhibit. Historic City Hall hours are 10 AM till 6 PM, Tuesday - Saturday. Admission is always free!

  • Sip in Sunset, Louisiana with the locals during the Uncorked Art Walk. Galleries along Napoleon Avenue will be open to give everyone an opportunity to view and purchase one-of-a-kind local art pieces and visit with some of the artists. Café Josephine will keep the party going with wine and tasty hors-d’oeuvres at each gallery. This event takes place every other month on the second Friday of the month and in conjunction with 2nd Weekends Along the Corridor.
