Empowerment, Leadership, and Community Building Unite at the 2024 Youth Action Summit

The excitement is building as the Youth Action Summit (YAS) gears up for its 2024 event, inviting youth and families to HeymAnn Park Rec Center for a day of empowerment, leadership development, and community engagement. Join us on Feb. 17th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, with registration starting at 8:30 am, for an enriching experience that aims to inspire, educate, and unite our community.

The 2024 Youth Action Summit is not just an event; it's a platform for self-discovery, peer connection, and amplifying youth voices. Held at Heymann Park Rec Center, the summit promises a transformative journey for attendees, with activities designed to foster personal growth, leadership skills, and community involvement.

The Youth Action Summit is open to youth ages 8 to 19, as well as adults interested in gaining insights into youth empowerment, leadership, and community resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, engage with community organizations, and connect with peers who share a passion for making a positive impact.

Started in 2008, residents, business owners, churches and Lafayette Consolidated Government planning staff developed the McComb- Veazey Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. Its goal is to improve the quality of life of its residents by partnering with public/ private organizations to bring much needed resources into the community. Our predominantly African- American neighborhood is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, ripe with culture and deep rooted heritage.
