Join the ACA for a country dance celebrating the rural traditions of Mardi Gras in the big city.Presentation and performance on Creole Mardi Gras traditions with American Routes Host Nick Spitzer, will begin the evening (6 pm) with a lecture on country Mardi Gras celebrations.Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys will take the stage and perform traditional Mardi Gras songs and will be joined by Cedric Watson and Jeffery Broussard, who will help introduce street-style performances by McComb-Veazy’s 12th Street Black Mardi Gras Indians, a courir de mardi gras, and a second line from Soul Express marching band.Doors open at 5 pm with dinner provided by Tony Chachere’s world renowned chefs.We are pleased to offer valet service at the entrance of AcA (101 West Vermilion Street).Attire is fun, artsy and festive (Courir Chic). In 1875, the governor made it official, creating Fat Tuesday as a legal Louisiana holiday.City Hall is celebrating this Mardi Gras season with the fabulous "Mardi Gras Morning" by artist Lauren Marie Breaux, located in their second floor gallery. “This exhibit shines a light on my favorite part of Mardi Gras, Tuesday morning", tells Breaux.Artwork is available for purchase so make sure to come in and grab something festive and fun for yourself!

John Isiah Walton has created a body of work entitled “Black Paintings,” totaling 100 artworks, that reflect on his personal experiences over the past seven years.Walton uses this thematic umbrella to work through ideas of the contemporary Black experience. His paintings apply a neo-expressionist style to this process, layered with art historical and pop culture influence.
