  • Every Friday since it began in the late 1990s, this station has carried the music program American Routes. It's based at Tulane University in New Orleans, but 20 years ago, necessity forced host Nick Spitzer to produce it from KRVS. This is our second extended interview marking the arrival and continuing effects of Hurricane Katrina...and, it does include descriptions of the human and structural damage that followed the storm. Nick, a folklorist who's lived in New Orleans for decades, says ABC News briefly brought him aboard as a cultural consultant for its program Nightline.
