The St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission will pay a tribute to Clifton Chenier on June 25, 2022, which is his birthday, and the day set to honor him in Louisiana. The tribute will last from one to three p.m. at the St. Landry Parish Visitor's Center.

Chorale will have a special concert entitled "A Salute to America", Tuesday June 28 at 7 p.m. located at Asbury United Methodist Church.

The Festival of Words special event "On the Road" will be heading to Opelousas in Java Square, Wednesday, June 29 at 7 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring their own poems, songs or stories for the open mic. Refreshments will be available. On Wednesday, July 20, step into the circle to share a story about yourself. The program takes place at the Opelousas Museum from 10 a.m. to noon and will be facilitated by Jahi Mackey of Narrative 4. The process entails sharing stories in pairs, and then retelling each other’s stories to the group. There is room for twelve participants.
