Baltimore Takes Creative Tack on New Drug Benefit
Baltimore's Department of Health has developed a plan for dealing with the new Medicare drug benefit. It treats Medicare Part D as a medical emergency, with a response center to handle problems, active outreach to pharmacies, and a fund for purchasing drugs for people who fall between the cracks.

Egypt Arrests Three in Sinai Bombing Probe
Egyptian police have detained at least three people in connection with the bombings at Dahab, a beach resort on the Sinai Peninsula. Three bombs killed at least 24 people, and wounded dozens more. It was the third such attack at a popular Sinai resort in less than two years.

An e-mail chain letter floating around the Internet urges people to boycott Exxon Mobil in an attempt to bring down gas prices. White House Unveils Disaster-Response Measures
The White House releases its review of the government's response to Hurricane Katrina. The 217-page report was far less harsh in its assessment of what went wrong than a similar report last week by a House committee. But the administration admits the response was flawed, and recommends more than 100 ways to address problems that emerged during the storm.

FEMA Sets Guides for Rebuilding New Orleans
FEMA releases new federal advisories and recommendations about which areas of New Orleans are vulnerable to flooding in the future. The advisories will require that many houses be raised several feet to qualify for insurance. Residents plan to use the guide to decide whether to rebuild or relocate.
