Bayou to Beltway: March 11, 2020

This week Bayou to Beltway speaks with Political Scientist Jason Maloy, about his new book Smarter Ballots: Electoral Realism and Reform on Wednesday at 12:30 and Saturday at 5:30 on KRVS 88.7 fm.

This week Bayou to Beltway talks about voting and election systems with Dr. Jason Maloy, the Kaliste Saloom Endowed Chair in Political Science at UL Lafayette. Dr. Maloy has been exploring the effect of different voting systems on elections. The Democratic Presidential Primary currently underway is a case in point for the conversation as is the Republican Primary in 2016. We ask whether or not other voting systems, in particularly ranked choice voting, could make this system fairer, better and more representative of voter's wishes. We turn the conversation to talk about Louisiana's blanket primary system and see the 2015 governor's race through the prism of ranked choice voting.

Listen in this Wednesday at 12:30 and Saturday at 5:30 to this informative conversation with author and political scientist, Dr. Jason Maloy, on Bayou to Beltway 88.7 fm.
