Bayou to Beltway speaks with scientist Dr. James Albert, of the UL Biology Department about the report titled, Scientist's Warning on the Amazon, which is commissioned by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. This report, co-authored by more than 200 scientists and researchers from 20 countries, will report on threats to the status of major aspects of the earth system. Dr. Albert, whose primary work is in the area of Amazonian fish, is a coordinator and co-author on the first two of the planned 36 chapters. Our discussion reveals the rising threat to the Amazon region, a region that holds the key to the sustainability of human civilization on earth for the next millennia.
