When you hear the word K-Pop, what immediately comes to mind? K-POP is theterm that represents popular music produced by Korean/Asian artists in South Korea.It’s the same as any other music you would hear in America, only it’s sung in Korean.They have the same genres of music. They have a music industry. What’s the big deal?

 Today, K-Pop has a worldwide outreach much in part due to the most famous sevenmember group, BTS. People love the styles of music, the meanings of the songs andtend to learn about Korean culture through watching music videos, behind the scenes orfrom simply getting to know the artists. It’s because of this outreach you’ll hear fandomnames for specific groups; there has been an introduction of new slang such as stan,maknae, sasaeng, etc. and the beauty of these stars have captured the attention ofmany.

 With K-Pop Fever, we introduce to you the music part of the industry. Keep an openmind and we’ll guide the way. Whether you’re an old stan, new stan or simply interestedin getting to know more. K-Pop Fever is here with all your K-pop favorites and ready togive you a modern take of the scene.

About the Producer: Jayci Tekell is currently a Visual Arts student at UL and one of thestudent workers at KRVS. Dr. Kim (the original producer of K-POP FEVER) has officiallypassed the torch of the show to her. She became interested in K-Pop towards the endof 2018, falling in love with various aspects of the music, artists and internationaloutreach. Her favorite K-Pop groups are Stray Kids, Ateez and Seventeen.

In fact, there is another name, Hallyu, that refers to the waves of Korean popular culture including not only music (K-POP), but also movies, television soap-operas (dramas), fashion, and even cosmetics nowadays. K-POP can be understood as a part of Hallyu, but it is now the most vibrant area of Hallyu.
