Church Turns Away Evacuees

Sept. 21, 2005 – It's been over three weeks since about fourty-thousand evacuees fleeing Hurricane Katrina settled into Lafayette parish. Most are staying with friends and family, and some have moved into their own houses. Fewer than a thousand are now in the Cajundome. But many more are staying in about sixty private shelters. Duson Baptist Church is one shelter that's decided it's time to close.
