Mr. Harvin, who has had careers as a college administrator, minister and financial coach, and I discuss his candidacy for Mayor-President, a position which serves as the chief executive for both Lafayette City and Lafayette Parish. We discuss the challenges facing Lafayette city and parish today, including storm preparation and drainage, parish and city budgets, economic development, fractious politics and efforts to diversify the economy in the aftermath of the oil bust. We discuss his plans to economize city government and better allocate resources while reaching out to under-served portions of the city and parish.
