UL Lafayette presents "Comedy Tonight"

Rehearsals for “Comedy Tonight”, a UL Lafayette opera, are in full motion. It will feature two acts of scenes from several different shows. Abby Boudreaux, playing the role of Susanna in “The Marriage of Figaro” believes, “It actually will educate you a lot on different operas. We have stuff by Mozart, Rossini, Pergolesi, and Donizetti.

CODOFIL bounces back from unexpected budget cut

Whenever Louisianians hear French spoken on radio, television or in the classroom, chances are one organization is owed thanks for keeping the heritage language alive. CODOFIL, or the Council for Development of French in Louisiana, has kept the French culture flourishing in the state since 1968. When Governor Bobby Jindal surprised Acadiana with a line item veto that slashed the budget for CODOFIL by 40 percent this June, Acadiana refused to watch its French heritage fade away.

Alternative Means To Receive Jail Funding

Local jails are facing the burden of finding ways to compensate for loss of funds due to the overcrowding of inmates. However, with help from the state, the parishes are now finding ways to make ends meet.
