Governor Bobby Jindal has recently signed a new Louisiana law making it the first

of its kind in the nation requiring all sex offenders and child predators to identify themselves on

their personal social media pages such as Facebook or Myspace. The required information listed

should include the title of sex offender or child predator, the convicted crime, the jurisdiction of

the conviction, a description of their physical appearance, and residential address.

The passing of the new law has brought slight ease to users and despite few objectors, it

Louisiana is in an educational slump due to bottom-ranking math scores throughout the state. Since 2007, it’s national ranking has been 44th and below. In order for things to change in Louisiana, teachers are coming together and forming better teaching skills for children. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has received a $1.8 million grant from the National Science Foundation. Professor Peter Sheppard, along with three other professors at UL Lafayette wrote and submitted this grant.
